EMDR Therapy

Experience relief and reach your therapeutic goals quickly and efficiently with EMDR therapy (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing).

As an EMDR CERTIFIED THERAPIST,  in addition to my initial training, I have engaged in hours of consultation  and practicums. Moreover, I have  voluntarily met standards of consultation, clinical practice, and continuing education to provide EMDR therapy. As an EMDR Certified Therapist I am also committed to fulfill ethical standards and I am engaged in continuing education. To maintain this certification, I  must continue to satisfy the EMDR International Association requirements including completion of continuing education requirements and adherence to ethical standards.

What is EMDR Therapy (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing)

EMDR therapy helps support client in a way that generates well-being and positive results. It is an evidence-based approach that is recommended by numerous international bodies such as the World Health Organization.

It  is an extensively researched, effective psychotherapy method aimed at helping people recover from trauma and other distressing life experiences (emdria.org). EMDR does not require talking in detail or focusing on changing the emotions, thoughts or behaviours.

What can EMDR help you with:

  • Trauma
  • Anxiety
  • Chronic stress
  • Depression
  • Burnout
  • Disturbing memories
  • Low self-esteem
  • PTSD
  • Insomnia
  • Panic disorders
  • Complicated grief
  • Phobia

How does it work

Unlike traditional talk therapy, EMDR does not require detailed discussion about distressing issues, session after session, and can be completed in fewer sessions than other psychotherapies. EMDR reduces symptoms of trauma by changing how the memories are stored in the brain. The therapist does this by leading the clients through series of bilateral (side-to-side) eye movements as they recall traumatic or triggering experiences in small segments, until those memories no longer cause distress (emdria.org).The emphasis is on allowing the brain to resume its natural healing process.
